The Dodos – Time To Die

The Dodos

Yeah, this album leaked a while ago and you’ll probably be able to find it elsewhere but I think it’s a good record and MY BLOG = MY RULES. You may be familiar with The Dodos from their previous record Visiter which through a pretty good Pitchfork review brought them a good deal of attention. Time To Die is in my opinion equally as good and despite lacking some of the energy of previous works sees the band hone their songwriting to perfection, resulting in some really sweet tracks. There’s something almost Beatles-esque about the dreamy melodies present on this album whilst their is also a percussive side reminiscent of the band’s contemporaries such as Grizzly Bear. With a cult following already cemented I can see this being the record that really starts to see them increase their fan base.

Deerhunter – Rainwater Cassette Exchange

Rainwater Cassette Exchange

So, this is the latest EP from one of my favourite bands of the past six months – Deerhunter.
I listened to Microcastle / Weird Era Cont. a bit obsessively so i’m super glad that they’ve released something new so quickly. I’ve only listened to this about 3 times through so far but it sounds pretty great and very much in the same vein as Microcastle, which can only be a good thing. Deerhunter have always appealed to me because of their use of such awesome melodies that you unearth the more you listen to them, and it’s sounding like this EP will be no different.
P.S. I’m off college today because I was feeling pretty ill last night, i’ll try and post some new stuff throughout the day.

Burial & Four Tet – Moth / Wolf Cub 12″

Burial & Four Tet

Like most things concerning Burial, this release has been kept very low key. No artwork, no promo, nothing. Despite this, it sold out on pre-orders alone (due for release on 4th May 2009) which in my opinion is a testament to the exceptional work that both have put out over the years.
The Burial track ‘Moth’ is incredible. A real slow burner laced with soft pulsating synths and an awesome bass line that gives it a real groove.
The Four Tet offering is equally as absorbing and reminiscent of the extended remixes he did for Foals last year.
Seriously good.

Welcome…

Thanks for checking out Acid Math!

This blog will hopefully act as a conduit for me to pass on stuff I think is awesome, to you, the music appreciator. There will be new stuff, old stuff, well known stuff and unknown stuff, everything will be good though, you can be sure of that.

Clicking on a picture will take you to a link where you can download said album for sampling purposes

Don't be selfish, consider all these links as means of sampling the artist only. If you like something then go and buy it. Equally as important, support your local music scene, no matter how small. Go and see shows.

I'm always up for linking with other blogs, so get in touch if you want to as well. Any queries? Leave a comment somewhere and i'll get back to you. Enjoy!
